Rowing History

1881:

The Boat House was constructed on land reclaimed from the marshes around the China Creek.

Oct 18th: First Regatta held at the Karachi Boat Club.

1883:

Karachi Boat Club sends their first crew to compete against the Poona Rowing Club.

1902:

Cyclones in Karachi cause great damage to the boats and equipment

1960-68:

New Pontoon constructed, and boathouse storage and repair facilities improved

Apr 1968: The Centenary Plate event between the Madras Boat Club and Karachi Boat Club is first held at the Madras Boat Club Spring Regatta.

2004:

Karachi Boat Club participates in their first ARAEFEARA Regatta, hosted by Colombo Rowing Club.

ARAE-FEARA Regatta held in Calcutta.

2006:

ARAE-FEARA Regatta, hosted by Madras Boat Club.

ARAE-FEARA Regatta, hosted by Karachi Boat Club.

2007:

ARAE-FEARA Regatta, hosted by Calcutta Rowing Club.

Karachi Boat Club facilitates Pakistan’s first international Inter-School Rowing competition, taking teams from Karachi Grammar School and BVS Parsi High to Bengal.

2008:

International Inter-School Rowing Regatta, hosted by Bengal Rowing Club. Schools from Karachi include KGS, The Lyceum, BVS Parsi High and the CAS

Friendship Regatta between Karachi Boat Club and Calcutta Rowing Club.

2009:

Men’s Double scull takes part in the Asian Junior Rowing Championships in Taiwan.

ARAE-FEARA hosted by Madras Rowing Club.

Asian Schools’ Rowing Association (ASRA) Regatta in Balgoda.

2010:

ASRA Regatta at the Madras Rowing Centre.

Crews participate in the Asian Juniors Rowing Championships in Taiwan.

Schools participate in the ASRA Regatta in Singapore.

KBC participates in the National Rowing Championships.

2016:

KBC participates in the Asia Cup in Singapore.

Schools participate in the International Inter-School Regatta in Singapore.

KBC sends crews to the Asian Juniors Rowing Championships in Thailand.

2017:

Inter-School Regatta in Beijing, China.

KBC sends crews to the Asian Juniors Rowing Championships in Singapore.

2018:

Inter-School Rowing Competition in Pirak, Malaysia.

KBC hosts the National Rowing Regatta in November.

2019:

Inter-School Rowing Competition in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

KBC competes in the Master’s Regatta in Thailand.

2021:

Schools attended the Coastal Rowing Beach Sprint Regatta held in the Maldives.
